My magazine’s title is called ‘The Victorian’ and it is strictly aimed at the parents of the students that attend Victoria College.
I used an Apple Mac to edit my front page and my contents page for my magazine using Photoshop.
My front cover entails a photograph of Victoria College that I took with a camera and imported onto an Apple Mac, I added an effect to the photo to make it look interesting and slightly more sophisticated. For this project, we had to use a photograph of a student in medium close up for the front cover of the magazine. The student that I chose was myself, I tried to look as smart and as professional as I could, as I needed to look smart for the front cover, so I could proudly represent the school. If I had not looked smart, this would give a bad reflection on the school and possibly repel readers from the magazine. I used the same background effect for the photograph of myself because it makes me look equal to the background, giving the magazine a better overall appearance.
The title of my magazine was essential, I had to make the font stand out, and also make it blend in with the background. I added an inner shadow and many other effects in order to make the title look as if it had been professionally printed in. Below the title is Victoria College’s emblem that I also imported from my camera. I had to cut the emblem out using Photoshop using the magic lasso tool and import it onto my front cover. I also used shadowing to make the emblem blend in with the background.
The jingle located on the bottom right corner of the magazine is used to promote the magazine and to make the jingle memorable and catchy. ‘Opening doors to your future’ is quite a high status jingle which again promotes the magazine as it is aimed at the parents of the students.
The front cover is supposed to promote Victoria College and attract readers with the bright background and striking title.

The contents page includes all of the page numbers and details of the magazine.
The contents page was also edited and made in Photoshop (Using Apple Mac). The background for the contents page was a photograph taken by myself of the inside of the school. I thought this would be a unique picture as it looks very mystifying and tranquil. I edited the colour of the background to make it look more old fashioned and slightly more mysterious – giving the contents page a better appearance. The title of the contents page involved the same editing technique as the title on the front cover, including inner shadows and outer glow’s etc.
The page numbers and the actual contents had to be coloured in a specific way as the background was not one simple colour, I did this by adding shadow effects to the font(s) so it was easier to read.
The contents page is supposed to tie in with the front covers jingle ‘Opening doors to your future’ as the contents page includes the main door to the college.
Overall the contents page’s main attraction was the background, as it ties in with the jingle on the front cover, and also adds a mysterious glow to the background of the contents page – symbolising a clear future to Victoria College’s students.

Empire magazine a well renown magazine that features the latest and upcoming films, and also includes reviews of films and other itneresting new news that involves new media. Empire magazine's target audience are mainly film fanatics, so a stereotypical age estimate would be from 14-40 then again it can vary depending on opinion.
The front cover of the magazine shows us the title 'EMPIRE' in block capitals and red in colour. The block capitals make the title stand out, and the colour of the font (red) stands out against the black background. The Joker is the main focus of this particular magazine as he stars in 'The Dark Knight' which was a massive hit at the box office. The Joker sits in the middle of the magazine and covers the P in EMPIRE this is effective as his head is supposed to be the P. The sub-heading 'meet The Joker' is a strange font, in that it makes the reader look into it, as the font is extra-ordinary. There are many other mini tabloids on the front cover which reveal what is inside the magazine.
I think this magazines front cover is very well presented, in that it ticks all the correct boxes. The font stands out, the focus is on The Joker and he is situated in the centre of the page and his head represents the letter P in EMPIRE, the sub-heading's font is sureal and it is accompanied with smaller tabloids that reveal information in the magazine.
I would rate this magazine out of ten but I do not think an complex opinion can be represented numerically.

This magazine is aimed towards anyone who is intereste in cars. The magazine's main focus is on cars/reviews on cars and some other background information about the team.
The cover of the magazine features the main title 'Top Gear' automatically tells the reader it's a car magazine. The font is bold and italic and bright orange against a blue/white/black background which makes it stand out. The sub-heading 'NEW LAMBO' is in block capitals, this also makes the magazine stand out, and the fact that the text reads 'LAMBO' not Lamborghini suggests that the magazine knows its target audience and it is acceptable to use slang.
The cover also featues a picture of a Lamborghini Gallardo which is a very powerful and beautiful car. It is the focus of the magazine as it is in the centre and it covers the majority of the front cover.
This magazine is very well presented in that its title is outstanding, the sub-heading has used slang and the picture that is the main focus is beautiful.

This magazine is not the best university magazine, although there are some redeeming features. It appears to be aimed at the students and the parents, as the students may be interested in the acedemic year.
The font used is white against a black background which makes it stand out more. The sub-heading unde the main title is purple which might emply ellegance as the magazine appears to be quite a high profile magazine. The magazine also includes pictures of different events that have happened during that year, these include graduations, pictures of the university, the constrction site that they are/were working on and an Art piece, all in celebration of the university.
The magazine is not the best university magazine, altho there are some redeeming features, the pictures tell the reader what the magazine entails inside. Although it lacks in editing and detail.

NME Magazine is generally aimed at people aged from 13-40, and it includes many music genres. These include such genres as: Pop, Punk, Rock/Alternative, Inide and other genres following these music types. The front of the magazine features the band P!ATD (Panic! At The Disco) and their latest album/news. The front cover of the magazine feautres a bold, bright red border which is outstanding, and would attract readers. It also entails small snappy sub-headings about bands and their interesting news - which appeals to the public as they may be interested in only that band, which gives them more of an insentive to buy the magazine. The way that the magazine's name 'NME' is presented is extremly important, the title has a black border surrounding a thinner white border and is filled with a bright red colour, which is eye-catching as it is bright and stunning to the eye.
NME is a very popular music magazine as it covers many band's new information and tells the reader what they want to hear. Compared to other music magazines such as 'Kerrang' and 'Scuzz' NME stands out as a good contender as it's front cover is well presented.
